 Heldrich-Dvorak Graduate Student Travel Fellowships 


The Heldrich-Dvorak Travel Fellowships are intended to support graduate student participation in the Southwest Texas Popular Culture/American Culture Association conference each year. For 2013, five awards of $300.00 will be available for graduate students whose papers have been accepted for presentation at the 2013 SW/TX annual conference.


Applicants must send a completed application as well as a short statement (no more than 200 words) about their proposed paper detailing the thesis and scope of the paper, how it reflects and contributes to the study of popular and/or American culture, and how it relates to the applicant's future professional goals. Also required is a mailed or emailed statement from your graduate advisor or appropriate authority such as the Graduate Studies Director of your unit or Chairperson of the department that attests to the fact that the applicant is in good standing.


All applicants for this award are required to have their paper accepted by the appropriate SW/TX area chair for presentation at the 2012 SW/TX PCA/ACA annual conference. The firm deadline for Heldrich-Dvorak Graduate Student Travel Fellowship applications is January 1, 2013, at which time, the applicant must provide full contact information including: Name, Address, email as well as the subject area and name of the SW/TX area chair. Students may mail or email their application. No letter of recommendation is needed or desired other than the endorsement that the student is in good standing.


Award decisions will be made by the end of January and awardees will be notified by email. Award monies will be made available during the Graduate Student Awards Ceremony.
